So, there you are, heading down the motorway for a night-time photoshoot that's already been shelved once due to predicted bad weather, and rain begins splattering on the windscreen again - great! Originally planned to take place in early October, the opportunity three weeks later to capture a selection of iconic Battle of Britain types on a grass airfield pivotal in the RAF's success during the campaign was unmissable. With the likes of the Imperial War Museum's (IWM) own Spitfire Mk.Ⅰ, the Historic Aircraft Collection's appropriately marked Hurricane, the Aircraft Restoration Company's unique Blenheim and Lysander, along with The Fighter Collection's Curtiss Hawk 75 planned to appear, it was the rare chance to see TFC's Fiat CR.42 Falco out of its hangar that had many enthusiasts buying tickets. Arriving at Duxford, by then under ominous grey cloud with a biting wind whipping across the airfield, it was pretty clear that Mother Nature was going to win again... or so it seemed.
