Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIVc RM694 is set to be restored to flying status by The Spitfire Company (Biggin Hill) Ltd at the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar. The fighter is thought to have one of the most original Spitfire fuselages extant - its wings were removed many years ago to help rebuild Mk.XIVe NH904. Built in 1943, RM694 was allocated to 91 Squadron in July 1944, then based at Deanland in Sussex. It flew more than 30 V-l interception sorties and, in the hands of Fg Off A R Elcock.was successfully used to shoot down one of the 'doodlebugs' on August 7.
