Modern-day jet thunder and an array of famous warbirds contributed to a spectacular two-day airshow at Fox Field in Lancaster, California. The Los Angeles County Air Show, which took place on March 21 and 22, brought together three branches of the US military - air force, navy and marine - saluting air power both present and past. Its star performer was arguably the Commemorative Air Force's Boeing B-29A Superfortress 44-62070 FiFi, currently the only flying example of its type, and always a presence to capture the attention. Other historic aircraft taking part included Lockheed P-38J Lightning 23 Skidoo, operated by Chino's Planes of Fame, which also supplied North American P-51D Mustang Wee Willy Ⅱ N7715C and Curtiss P-40N Warhawk NL85104. The USAF's Thunderbirds jet display team rounded off a memorable weekend of flying.
