摘要

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's Lancaster B.X was built by Victory Aircraft of Malton, Canada, in July 1945. After service as a maritime patrol aircraft with 405 Squadron and 107 Rescue Unit, it was retired from the RCAF in 1963. It was on external display with the Royal Canadian Legion in Goderich, Ontario, before being acquired by the museum. After a comprehensive restoration, it flew again on September 24,1988. Known to some as Mynarski Memorial Lancaster, it is painted as KB726 of 419 (Moose) Squadron. Having been attacked by a Junkers Ju 88 night-fighter on June 13,1944, Plt Off Andrew Mynarski attempted to free trapped tail-gunner Pat Brophy as KB726 descended in flames. The gunner miraculously survived, but Mynarski died after suffering severe burns. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.
