There's always something bittersweet about the final airshow of the year at Duxford, or anywhere in the UK for that matter. Over the summer we've been treated to reborn classic jets, the marking of important anniversaries and impressive formations of piston-powered warbirds, but as the curtain came down on October 16, the beginning of the next 'season' seemed a very long way off indeed. Cambridgeshire was blessed by unusually high temperatures and mostly blue skies on the day - indeed, so dazzling was the sun that shades and hats were a must as eyes squinted upwards at a variety of aircraft both vintage and modern.
