Visitors to the Nottinghamshire-based Newark Air Museum have been fascinated by the combat history of BAe Sea Harrier FA.2 ZA176. This interest has resulted in several fresh sources of information about the Falklands veteran's past. Built as an FRS.1, ZA176 first flew at Dunsfold, Surrey, on November 25, 1981. It was delivered to RAF St Athan, Wales, 20 days later and held on Fleet Reserve Storage. On April 6, 1982, it was flown from St Athan to RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset, and issued to the newly-reformed 809 Squadron on the 8th. Supported by an RAF HP Victor K.2 tanker, ZA176 started its journey south to Ascension Island to join the Falklands Task Force on the 30th, arriving on May 1.
