In the Foodservice Distributor category, 12 transactions were closed in 2006, with four additional acquisitions still pending completion. Two companies were quite active in expanding their businesses through acquisitions. FreshPoint, Inc., a subsidiary of Sysco Corp., made three acquisitions in 2006, on top of the four produce distributors it acquired in 2005. Its latest purchases include Incredible Fresh Produce, City Produce Inc. and Thomas Brothers Produce Inc. Meanwhile, Reyes Holding, Inc. and its Reinhart FoodService L.L.C. unit completed three acquisitions and reached agreements for two others.
