摘要

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) and a number of pesticides can act as endocrine disrupters, molecules that exhibit hormonal activity in the human body, and can therefore interact and perturb normal physiological functions. A number of these compounds are extremely persistent in nature, and their bioaccumulative effect may impose a significant-threat to human health. Objectives: a) The first aim of the present study was to develop methods to quan-tifiy the pestizide atrazine in water samples in the city of Luxembourg. Atrazine is a relatively strong endocrine disruptor and was largely used in the past but is now prohibited; b) The second aim was to measure the concentration of common PCB's in fish and other potentially contaminated foods frequently consumed in Luxembourg.
