Within our collaborative research, biotech-nological methods should be used to produce phytoestrogens that could be further isolated on a large scale. The isolation of natural products in a preparative scale is feasible with "High-speed countercurrent chromatography" (HSCCC). This is an all liquid chromatographic technique that operates under gentle conditions and allows the non-destructive isolation even of labile compounds, such as the isoflavones or stilbenes.
