Situated just off the seafront in sunny Southwick, you could be forgiven for thinking that Southover Foods was content with the quiet life. Not so. The first thing that md Steve Pearce makes clear is that the company has plans for growth. "This time last year, we had 35 staff," he says. "We've now increased the workforce to 40 and we're looking to employ more as we expand." The company has two different sales strategies. It has 17 distribution vans, which deliver Southover's meats to different delis across the country, and it has also started trading with several large pub groups, which it supplies with over 3,000 speciality foods, such as olives and capers, sourced from different companies.
