Tesco said on 22 May it is scrapping best before guidance dates from nearly 70 fruit and vegetable lines as part of efforts to help slash food waste.rnThe supermarket giant said it was targeting fruit and vegetables, with apples, potatoes and tomatoes among those chosen for the switch, as they were among the most wasted, and those thrown away are often "perfectly edible".rnTesco's head of food waste, Mark Little, said: "We know some customers may be confused by the difference between ‘best before’ and ‘use by’ dates on food and this can lead to perfectly edible items being thrown away before they need to be discarded.
