New guiding principles on country of origin labelling, announced formalise measures that Britain's grocers have nalready agreed - to provide consumers with clear, accurate information on the origin of their food. n nThe guidance, titled "Principles on Country of Origin Information", which can be found in full on the Barbour nservice next week, has been developed by retailers' organisation, the British Retail Consortium (BRC), in nassociation with representatives of food manufacturers, commercial caterers and the hospitality trade. Based on nthe labelling practices of the best performers in the food chain, it aims to bring others into line to ensure a higher nquality and consistency of origin - information everywhere that consumers buy food.
