摘要

Increasing midsole energy return and/or shoe longitudinal bending stiffness (LBS) showed conflicting results on running economy (RE). Some studies showed RE improvements in average over the group of participants while other did not show significant effect. However, these other studies reported participant-specific RE improvements partly explained by muscle activations (Nigg, Stefanyshyn, Cole, Stergiou, & Miller, 2003) or kinematics (Madden, Sakaguchi, Tomaras, Wannop, & Stefanyshyn, 2016), which could depend on intrinsic participant characteristics (Willwacher, Konig, Braunstein, Goldmann, & Brueggemann, 2014).
