摘要

Ankle dynamic joint stiffness was shown to increase with softer midsole materials. The effects of midsole hardness were still seen at the knee joint where stiffness increased for the soft midsole compared to the medium and hard midsoles. While the influence of impact forces on running injuries is still debated, the results from this study demonstrated that softer midsole shoes in fact increase the vertical impact peak, contrary to the belief that midsole cushioning can attenuate impact forces. Greater dynamic joint stiffness may be required in order to control the joint movements in a softer, more unstable midsole.
