Thank goodness. President Obama's inaugural speech pretty much told us that we will have four more years of gridlock politics. Markets prefer congressional inaction, and the stock run-up that we have experienced since the inauguration is living proof. Unfortunately, our economy hasn't done as well as the stock market, and I see little reason for optimism. Washington, D.C. runs on the philosophy that a crisis is a terrible thing to waste-even if you have to contrive one. Markets react to crises with volatility, and Wall Street loves volatility, especially in a no-growth economy.
