Not every technology used by America's spy agencies is brewed up in some secret James Bond-style lab. In fact, a surprising number are created by for-profit companies funded in part by In-Q-Tel, the 14-year-old independent venture wing of the CIA. The fund typically puts between $1 million and $3 million into a deal. In 2012 it participated in 20, according to VC-tracker CB Insights. Below, a few of its successful alumni.
