A sound approach to human resources is proactive: aligning talent with metrics to support strategic planning. This helps set the stage for strong employee engagement, which in turn supports performance, development and retention. But in fast-growing private companies, with so many business opportunities to chase, talent management becomes almost an afterthought. All too often, HR is relegated to mere compliance, focusing simply on getting the right boxes ticked to get streams of new employees into the field.
