Business schools have come under fire for the financial crisis (what were those M.BA.S thinking?), while the implosion of firms like Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns robbed grads of traditional employment A business degree at a leading school like Stanford costs $275,000 in tuition and forgone salary on average, but it still pays off. Why? Hiring has picked up after two lackluster years, with 57% of B-schoolers having a job offer several months before graduation compared with 40% in 2010. Google, Facebook and Apple rank near the top of M.BA. wish lists as employers (McKinsey still leads).
