Inflation? Deflation? Why can't economists get the forecast right? One thing we can learn from the current debate is that economists don't agree even on basic principles, such as how to stimulate an economy or modify consumer or corporate behavior. No wonder economics is called the dismal science. I don't think it is really a science at all, despite its grandiose mathematical modeling. It's dependent on human behavior, so it is an art and a rather dark one at that.
