State governments in the north and northeast regions of Brazil are investing ambitiously in infrastructure projects and opening their doors to international investors.rnThese two regions extend more than 2,500 miles across the country - from the western border with Peru through the Amazon rainforest to the eastern seaboard - and offer a wealth of entrepreneurial opportunities in trade and tourism.rnRio Grande do Norte, therncountry's mostrneasterly state, is about to build an airport that will be the largest cargo terminal in Latin America, with the capacity to receive up to 40 million passengers a year.rnPara, the neighboring state to the west, provides a gateway to the Amazon basin and is planning a tree-planting campaign to combat the deforestation of the rainforest.rnWilma Maria de Faria, the governor of Rio Grande do Norte, says the next four years will see a huge generation of investment in the state infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
