Dash express is a navigation device with a twist-it connects to the Internet. That wireless connection (Wi-Fi and cellular) enables Dash Express to deliver intelligent traffic information as well as a slew of applications that set it head and shoulders above other navigators that merely offer directions. What's most exciting about the Dash is that in addition to being a terrific and useful global positioning system device it also represents two trends that are sweeping the tech world. First is the ambient Internet, in which all sorts of devices we don't usually think of as computers will be constantly connected, sending and receiving information to one another. Bill Gates said recently that we're moving toward a world where every surface is a computer. That's a great idea, though God help us if his company's software is powering those surfaces.
