In February a San Francisco startup called Browster introduced a new technology at the trendy Demo conference. Its free software works with Internet Explorer and allows you to "prefetch" Web sites by running your mouse over page links. The linked sites pop up in a new window, wrapped in ads that Browster sells. Browster Chief Executive Scott Milener claims this saves surfers the time and trouble of clicking through a link and having to hit the back button. It also saves Browster the trouble of building its own Web sites to attract its own audience.
