摘要

The religion of janus Funds is growth, growth, growth, and star manager Thomas E Marsico was one of its most famous acolytes. After quitting in 1997 he made a fortune with his own firm, picking feverish growth stocks. You'd never guess what his credo is today: something that resembles value investing. Among his value-like growth favorites are home builder Lennar, trading at 9 times trailing earnings, and automaker BMW, at 16 times. He invokes theories about a stock's "intrinsic value." And he has bailed out of most tech stocks. "We are a lot more defensive than we were three years ago," says Marsico, now 46, as he looks out over the snowcapped Rockies from his 13th-floor office in downtown Denver.
