摘要

In 2010 the Hessian state government adopted the revised version of the Hessian oncology concept aiming at a further improvement of high-quality local oncological care. The most important aspect included in this concept is a contractual cooperation of the hospitals of a specific region based on tumor boards and cancer patient databases. Relevant protagonists are the coordinating hospitals, cooperating hospitals, specialized medical practices, and also rehabilitation facilities. Currently the partipants are working on the concrete implementation of this concept. This includes the conclusion of cooperation contracts, negotiations about the financing with the cost units, implementation options for an internet-based tumor board and questions about establishing cancer patient databases. The concept unites an innovative cooperation strategy with a qualitative improvement of oncologic care and may represent a successful model for a nationwide strategy.
