摘要

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) are still a frequent tumor entity worldwide. The prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated tumors is increasing; therefore treatment schedules are shifting to more specific therapies according to tumor biology. Independent of the HPV status a variety of treatment options are currently available. Various criteria, e.g. tumor stage, comorbidities, age and socioeconomic factors must be taken into consideration when planning therapy. Besides local tumor control, the goal is always organ and function preservation. This review gives an overview of present therapeutic options in HNSCC. One focus is an update of possibilities in robot-assisted head and neck surgery. Apart from the non-surgical approaches, the indications and limitations of induction chemotherapy, concomitant radiochemotherapy and radiotherapy alone will be discussed.
