There are several questions to be answered in relation to the thermocouple application described in the recent contribution to this journal by Jha et al. [1]. First, the 'probe diameter' of 1 mm -is that the bead diameter of a bare-wire thermocouple or the sheath diameter of a mineral-insulated metal sheathed (MIMS) thermocouple? This information is important. We are told on p. 1983 that it is type K, yet on p. 1985 we are told that it was NiCr-Ni. Type K is NiCr-NiAl: none of the letter-designated ther-mocouples has a thermoelement of nickel alone. So this point needs clearing up.
