This a coherent look at the challenges facing electric power globally, both now and in the future. It is very good at outlining the broad array of factors that affect the social costs of our growing worldwide dependence on electric power, and the choices we face. These factors include the following: External Costs-Air pollution and damage to health, materials, and crops; Land use change and biodiversity loss; Acidification of water and land; Visual impacts, including power lines; and Greenhouse gases-including methods for quantifying future uncertainties.
