This article explores the feasibility and process of integrating cross-impact analysis and geographic information systems and describes the methodology. The integration is based on the underlying fundamental methodologies or their "generic structures" (Forrester, 1989). Integration at this level will lead to synergy, hence contributing to methodological progress and robust application development. "Methodology" refers to the system's underlying generic concepts and procedures. This article also highlights the strong association between cross-impact analysis and systems thinking.
