Three forewords are important introductions to this book, the first by Torsten Haegerstrand (1916-2004) and the other two by the authors who are not from Sweden but have long experience of lecturing and doing research in geography here. Thus they can look at their topic both from an outside and an inside perspective. The connections to the famous Dialogue Project initiated by Haegerstrand and Buttimer and to Buttimer's earlier works on the theory and history of geographical thought give reasons to believe that the approach chosen will go beyond what is usual in studies of this type.
