Europrobe began as a project to produce a geo-transect in anrnE–W direction linking western Europe with eastern Europernand the Soviet Union and had its genesis in the early 1980s.rnThe initial project would have resulted in a profile similar inrnscope to the N–S European Geotraverse (the EGT).
