Following the East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami and the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power station, about 70 percent of Japanese citizens are against nuclear power generation, which has now been stopped completely due to fears about the preparedness for future natural disasters. Although the country's present government has a great wish to restart nuclear power generation, renewable energy generation and particularly solar power generation is now booming, because the previous government guaranteed to purchase the solar power at a high rate of about USD4 per kWh for 20 years.
