Can we talk? As the articles in this issue demonstrate, effective communications-whether in person or across multiple industries and borders-are vital to achieving organizational goals. In an Internet- and IT-enabled era, face-to-face meetings are not the only way to establish a productive working relationship, explain Philippe Gelin and Maia Milusheva in their case study of Schneider Electric on p. 6. Their article outlines how transnational and virtual Communities of Practice create a space where experts can share knowledge-communicate-with peers to leverage the efficiency of operations.
