The H2ID has been awarded the concession for Israel's second large desalination plant. The 100 million cu m plant will be located at Hadera along Israel's central Mediterranean coast. The consortium is comprised of Israel Desalination Enterprises Ltd and Shikun U'Binui Holdings. The decision was announced on September 18 by the Israeli National Infrastructure Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer. The winning group for the BOT project proposed a price of $0.58 (58 cents) per cu m. This represents just over $0.04 (4 cents) less than the price of water at the Ashkelon desalination plant that began production in August 2005.
