Aguas de Barcelona (Agbar) is under growing pressure from its partners to sell testing company Applus. Press reports in Madrid and Barcelona say Agbar's partners in Spain's biggest certification and inspection operation, savings bank Caja Madrid and utility Union Fenosa, want to accept offers apparently pouring in from financial groups to buy Applus. An earlier bid to sell Applus collapsed at the last minute in July (GWR 248/6) when UK venture capital group Candover Partners Limited pulled out of the ?1 billion deal.
