Bottled water is frowned upon by environmentalists everywhere. Yet one system is attracting praise by cutting out the need for delivery and collection of bottles or the disposal of containers into landfill sites. An on-site purification system is treating water for some of the world's very richest customers and the very poorest. Customers ranging from diners at the exclusive English restaurant, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons to the Duchess of Devonshire at Chatsworth House enjoy the benefits of the Classic Crystal water filtration system. Yet tsunami victims were also able obtain clean water after Eco Pure water systems were flown out to south east Asia and bolted onto the backs of trucks. The system could suck up whatever water was available, however dirty, and filter and treat it, before zapping it with ultraviolet treatment. According to Eco Pure's Chairman, Hamish Carlton, historically, one of the problems had been the danger of contaminated containers.Eco Pure had solved this: "Our kit sanitizes the container as it is filled," he told GWR.
