With healthy profits in the first quarter as it goes public, Manila Water now wants to spread its wings overseas. Manila Water president Antonino Aquino said the company had signed a management service contract with a water distribution company in Tiripur, India, bringing along its British technical partner in Manila's east zone, United Utilities. Aquino revealed the diversification plans as the newly-listed Manila Water Company reported net income in the first quarter rising 57% from 309 to 484 million pesos (US$8.9 million), while revenues improved 29% to 1.26 billion pesos (US23 million) for the same period last year.
