Argentina's Fides Group is wrapping up negotiations to buy a controlling stake in water operator Aguas Provinciales de Santa Fe from France's Suez, Spain's Aguas de Barcelona and other investors. Fides, a holding company for Argentine natural gas distributor Emgasud, aims to conclude talks very soon, Carlos Serrano, the spokesman for both companies, told GWR on June 28. Suez signed an exclusive negotiating deal on June 14 with Fides and Grupo de Energia, another Emgasud-related company, after hearing offers from potential buyers, it said in a statement on June 20. Suez said the Fides deal stipulated that the sale of its 51.69% in Aguas Provinciales should be concluded by July 31.
