摘要

Aguas Argentinas has given the government 30 working days to provide solutions to problems it says are preventing investment and causing its water and wastewater services in Buenos Aires to deteriorate. Without a satisfactory response, the company, controlled by France's Suez, could ask the government to cancel its contract for what is the country's biggest water concession, a move the government apparently doesn't oppose. Aguas' board of directors met July 26 to discuss the government's latest offer in three-year-old negotiations for a new contract and tariff structure. UNIREN, the commission handling talks for new contracts with utilities, sent the offer to Aguas the day before, a response to the company's previous proposal of July 7 that would enable it to restart investments while deferring tariff increases until 2006.
