For many years the graphic arts industry has struggled to simplify the process of feeding and aligning the sheet in a sheetfed offset press, a process complicated by the high running speeds of today's presses. With the development of KBA's Sensoric Infeed System, which is available on KBA's Rapida 105 sheetfed press, this problem has been solved. The Sensoric Infeed System (SIS) was developed by KBA engineers to remove the traditional side guide on a press and integrate sheet alignment/register into the first infeed cylinder to improve, make more consistent and simplify the process of feeding and aligning the sheet. This is the first sheetfed offset press to incorporate a no-sidelay infeed system. One of the chief aims was to make the process stable and reliable without the need for manual intervention-even with frequent changes between different printing papers or even substrates.
