The House Energy and Commerce Committee's top Republican spokesman has left Capitol Hill to work at a pair of political firms. Zack Roday, who was communications director for ranking member Greg Walden (R-Ore.), left last week to join GuidePost Strategies and Ascent Media. Roday is now a senior adviser at GuidePost, a lobbying and public relations firm led by Phil Cox and Marie Sanderson, two alumni of the Republican Governors Association. It serves clients including Honeywell International Inc., Ford Motor Co. and Walgreens Co. "Zack brings a unique blend of government and campaign experience — in senior communications roles — to GuidePost Strategies," Cox and Sanderson said in a statement. "From working for our nation's highest-profile political leaders, to serving on the congressional committee with the broadest policy reach in Congress," said Cox, "Zack's expertise will give our clients a dynamic edge." He is a senior strategist at Ascent, an advertising firm that has served clients like American Wind Action, the Edison Electric Institute and Trade Works for America, as well as Republican political candidates like Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) and former Kansas gubernatorial candidate Mark Hutton (R). Before Energy and Commerce, Roday's positions included communications director for the Republican Attorneys General Association, campaign operation press secretary for former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and a special assistant to former Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker's campaign.
