Colorado voters want elected leaders to do more to address thousands of abandoned mines across the state, fearing they could end up polluting waterways just like the Gold King mine disaster last year, according to a new poll. The poll, conducted on behalf of Conservation Colorado, found that 88 percent of those surveyed in the state believe it is at least a "somewhat serious" problem that roughly 17,000 abandoned or inactive mines "have not been cleaned up."
