Establishment Republicans got their man in the Indiana Senate Republican primary last night, as Rep. Todd Young handily defeated Rep. Marlin Stutzman to win the party's nomination and the right to compete for retiring Sen. Dan Coats' (R) seat in November. In the latest showdown between the party's traditional wing and its tea party supporters, Young claimed a major victory over Stutzman, taking 67 percent statewide. Although Stutzman saw his bid embraced by the conservative Club for Growth, Senate Leadership Fund and Tea Party Express, he received only 33 percent of the vote. The victory sets up a rematch between Young and former Democratic Rep. Baron Hill in November.
