Federal scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are taking 360- degree "street view" mapping underwater to allow people to explore the seas from their armchairs. While nearly 400,000 photos have been taken in waters off the coast of Australia and in the Caribbean, the latest action is the first time the United States will employ specialized fisheye lenses for underwater mapping. Some of the images taken in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary could be online this week -- some of them on Google Maps and others at the Catlin Global Reef Record.
