Sailors practicing this weekend in Rio de Janeiro ahead of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games will test how well they can perform in the city's polluted water. A weeklong regatta starts Sunday in heavily polluted Guanabara Bay, a waterway that local officials say will take at least a decade to clean up. The test event will bring 216 boats and 321 competitors from 34 nations to the bay.
