摘要

Attorneys representing plaintiffs in a long-running case over the federal government's failure to open a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nev., have made more than $350,000 in fees and expenses, court records show. The attorneys were forced to disclose the billings when some plaintiffs tried to require the federal government to pay the fees because they won their lawsuit against the Nuclear Regulatory Commission last year. The fees were "a fairly large amount of money," said Marty Malsch, a nuclear energy attorney not involved with the case, "but maybe it could be justified. Once cases get complicated like this one would have been, it's pretty easy to drive up fees pretty quickly."
