We've all heard the quote before "All models are wrong, but some are useful," which came from the pen of the famous statistician George Box, Emeritus Professor at the University of Wisconsin (Box and Draper 1987, 424). The quote gained popularity in the ground water community some 7 years ago when it served as the marquee for the 2006 Darcy Lecture (Poeter 2007).
