A method of fast first fix using a low-cost GNSS receiver is presented. The method makes it possible to significantly reduce the time to first fix when GNSS ephemerides and good estimates of the initial user position and time are available. It is also proposed to use Doppler measurements for the initial estimation of user coordinates. The expected time to first fix is calculated depending on the input GNSS signal power.
