摘要

Norma Smayda has been weaving for nearly forty years. She first learned to weave in Norway, where she has returned occasionally to teach and lead textile tours. Her work appears in several books such as Shear Delight: Handwoven Transparencies (Stellar Publishing, 1990) and Summer & Winter: A Weave For All Seasons (Interweave Press, 1991). She has contributed to numerous fiber journals including Complex Weavers Journal, Fiberarts, Handwoven, and Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot. Smayda has an MFA in visual design from the University of Massachusetts and served on the board of the Handweavers Guild of America for seven years, four of them as president. In 1974, she established and continues to run the Saunderstown Weaving School, where she has amassed a huge library of weaving books. For Smayda and her assistant, Suzi Ballenger, here lies the rub!
