Recently I juried a fiber exhibition at Art St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri, while at the same time my own work was being juried for an exhibition in Santa Fe, New Mexico. When some of the artists who were rejected by the jurors in the Santa Fe show set up a separate show (in the tradition of the French Salon des Refuses), I began to think seriously about the responsibilities of being a juror as well as the responsibilities of being an artist entering a juried exhibition.
