The F-35 Lightning II, more commonly known as the Joint Strike Fighter or JSF continues to fill headlines, not all of which are complimentary. It is technologically complex but over- budget, late and still some years away from operational service. That said, however, it is demonstrating the ability to do some things that other aircraft cannot. Among these is the ability to operate successfully from big-deck amphibious ships similar to the new Canberra class.
